The Boy 1.0 has at last broadened his horizons beyond the world of Cars and Radiator Springs. This of course isn't to say that McQueen and the Gang are out ... in fact, even as I write this post he's playing with them. But the good news is that the next 'big thing' is now rearing its ugly head ... and its teeth.
Yep, you guessed it. Dinosaurs are the next craze en casa de Batler, especially the great Tyrannosaurus Rex. We've even got one living at home if you believe the short one running around snarling and proclaiming decisively "I'm a T-Rex." I guess that's two if you count the times he forces me to pretend to be one too.
So what (other than testosterone) makes a two and half year old all starry-eyed over creatures that have been dead for millions of years? Well, it may be the nice little dinosaur set we picked up for him, but I'm thinking it was the trip we made to the Brigham Young University Earth Science Museum while we were out in Utah last month. Sorry about the video quality - poor lighting does that:
Next step, you say? Well, we're considering dropping the cash and an entire day to go see this overpriced fiasco.
At least living animals had a chance for a couple of days there though. Grandma sent out a cool little robotic horse that was the coolest toy around for the three days it lasted before he tried to sit on it. This may be a shock to some of you, but a 4" tall horse made of Chinese plastic won't hold a 35+ lb. body very well.

Cute :)
I think it comes from the fact that dinosaurs don't look or sound like anything else around. And it's not like we can see a live T-Rex, with it's natural predatory tendencies; so that makes them seem less scary and more fun :)
Plus, the fossils are just awesome.
Hooray for Dinos! That is awesome. Glad he still likes cars too but it must be nice to move onto something else. Josh sure hasn't done that yet after a bazillion cars he now currently owns. But he does love that dinosaur museum at BYU and we visit there whenever we are back. He loves the "Alligator" one in the back. My dad took him to the Thanksgiving point one and he loved it but it freaked him out too.
