It's tough to describe with words the indomitable spirit inside our young two-year old, but those of you who have spent some time with him having an inkling of what I'm talking about. Even as the parents who spend most of their waking hours with the boy, there are times when the true depth of his strong will surprises us as well.

Yesterday the boys went to the doctor's office for a couple of immunizations - Jon was first in line for the needle. Now you expect a little bit of squirming and crying somewhere between light sob to scream of bloody murder. Then you get a lollipop, a bandaid, and a big hug from mom, right?

Well, no sooner had the needle pierced his leg than Jonathan leaned forward, gripped the syringe with his right hand, and in true Schwarzenegger action-hero fashion wrested the tiny spear from his body.

Then when Matt's turn came, the big brother instinct kicked in and Jon adamantly and both verbally and physically objected to his brother being subjected to the same torment. Yikes, huh? With a kid with guts like that, I think we're gonna start sleeping with our eyes open.

On a lighter note, here's a nice little compilation video from our Christmas Eve and present opening in the morning:

That is the cutest story! What a great big brother and true super hero for trying to protect himself from those evil doctors. Liza would always brag that her kids wouldn't cry during their immunizations, but mine would always scream the minute the needle hit their leg. Then they would look at me like "What the heck is she doing to me!?!? Mom stop it!" I feel so helpless. I'm glad to hear that Jon started sticking up for himself and his brother. Cute Cute!
