Once again, great family milestones come in pairs. Jonathan had an enjoyable second birthday yesterday (milestone one). Despite our mediocre parenting, he also decided to reward us by actually letting us sleep in (milestone two), getting out of bed (which he actually sleeps in finally) and going straight to his toys. Because words could never do it justice, I won't even try to describe how heavenly that was.
Yesterday we went to Toys R' Us and went 'nuts' (well at least DC Metro area single-salary family 'nuts') and learned another interesting little thing about children: they really just don't care. We bought him his customary birthday car/plane and as an afterthought grabbed a couple foam pool pads for $1.99. And guess what his birthday favorite was ...
His real birthday party is on Saturday, after which we'll do the usual photo dump and send. By the way, we recently found out that our bun-in-the-oven is another boy. We're glad that Jon will have another playmate (or punching bag), though it's been a little bit of a curve ball for us as far as names go. We've got a couple floating around, but we'll see.
